The self-service bike hire scheme is very simple: users* collect a bicycle and drop it off wherever and whenever they want. It couldn’t be easier!
Designed with safety in mind, the bikes are comfortable and robust. The bikes are grouped together in stations with docking points and a terminal for hiring the bikes, where users can often take out a subscription for the bike hire.
Located 300 to 400 metres apart, the Cyclocity station network connects all areas of the city. Users will easily find a bike near their starting point and can drop it off when they have reached their destination. This is the solution that everybody has been waiting for!
"I am lucky enough to have a station just outside my house and another one 200 metres away from my work. I have hardly used my car since I subscribed to Villo!” said Gunther, 39, Brussels.
For added convenience, in some cities like Brisbane, Toyama, Paris, Nantes... users can also buy tickets directly from home via the self-service bicycle system website. They can also opt for annual subscription and easily complete the process online using a bank card. This saves time and paper!
Cyclocity’s environmental approach, innovation and design have earned the scheme 13 awards.
