From Innovation to Design: An award-winning concept

Cyclocity is an innovative scheme that offers users a new way to travel that is in tune with cities’ requirements for sustainable development.

This approach earned Cyclocity numerous awards. Find out why Cyclocity has caught the attention of juries.

> Cycling Trophy 2005

In 2005 Cyclocity received the "Cycling Trophy" with vélo'v, which was awarded as part of the 16th Congress of Cycle-friendly Cities. The award recognises the success of the self-service bicycle scheme that was set up in Lyon and the surrounding areas. It supports the development of an “environmentally friendly” transportation policy by the urban community that complements the provision of public transport in the city.

> L'Usine Nouvelle” 2005 Trophy

This award highlights the benefits that Cyclocity brings in terms of sustainable development, while addressing three major points: protection of the environment, economic viability and social responsibility.

> Runner-up Environment and Business Award 2006

Cyclocity was among the prizewinners of the "Environment and Business Award 2006" for bringing a shared service to the market.

> Janus Industry Award 2006

Designed with a view to improve the lifestyle of its users and protect their environment, Cyclocity received the "2006 Janus Industry Award ".

> Grand Prix for Design Strategy 2007

On 26 September 2007, Vélib', the Paris self-service bicycle scheme received the "Grand Prix for Design Strategy". The jury selected the scheme for its style, quality and innovation.

> Janus Service Award 2007

The “Janus Service Award” was awarded in 2007, largely due to the elegant and ergonomic design of the bikes and terminals. According to the judging panel responsible for awarding products incorporating user services, Vélib' is an economical travelling solution that provides an answer to traffic pollution.

> Award granted by the City and Transportation authorities: 2007 Green Grand Prix

The rapid deployment of Velib', which was achieved in less than four months, won the 2007 Green Grand Prix for Transportation. The jury praised the transformation of the Capital “into the template of a modern cycling metropolis, within a very short period of time ”.

>Italian Award 2007 for "Environment Friendly Innovation"

"Legambiente", the largest Italian NGO for the protection of the environment gave the "Environment Friendly Innovation" Environmental Innovation Award of the Year to Vélib’ in the Mobility category.

> Design Observer Award 2008

Vélib' received the "2008 Design Observer Award." Its approach to innovation was rewarded during the "Stars of Design" event at the Cité des Sciences.

> The European Business Awards for the Environment,2008

The European Business Awards, organised by the European Commission, awarded Cyclocity the runner-up prize in the best product category for its service in several European cities.

> GOOD DESIGN 2009

Vélib received the prestigious award from the international GOOD DESIGN contest in Chicago, under the "Environment" category.

> Janus EcoDesign Award 2009

The French Institute of Design awarded JCDecaux the Janus EcoDesign Award. This award is granted to companies for promoting an eco-design approach and for the environmental qualities of a product. This is the third Janus award that Cyclocity has won, following the Janus Service Award in 2007 and the Janus Industry Award in 2006.

Dublinbikes was awarded the top prize in the green communication category at the 2011 green Awards ( May 2011).

> Ingenuity Award 2012

Vélib’ wins the Financial Times/Citi “Ingenuity Award” (Infrastructure category) in New York.

> Customer Service Award 2016

The Customer Relations Department has won the Customer Service of the Year award for 2016 in the “Individual Transport” category.
