The key to success

(11/10/2011)

Cyclocity self-service bikes have become an integral part of public transport for city-dwellers.
. The location of the stations, their number, size and proximity to services have ensured the success of the scheme.

The self-service bike has become the best way to take short trips around the city centre! Conveniently located near shops, offices and houses, the bikes enable users to travel easily around the city.

“Some customers even park their bikes outside our shop window, they can buy things much more easily than if they were in a car or other vehicle.” said Josiane, who owns a bookshop in Lyon.

The size and number of the stations has been central to their success. The busier the area, the more docking points are installed, ensuring users are always well supplied with bikes.

Promote interchangeability

Stations close to public transport are very much in demand. The Cyclocity network has been designed to link up to underground stations, bus stops and railway stations. Easily accessible to public transport users (who can use their public transport card to access the service), Cyclocity encourages both interchangeability and the protection of the environment.

A network of cycle routes also contributes to the success of a self-service bike system.
